Every phase of pregnancy has its little quirks and nuances. Thankfully I'm passed the "sick to my stomach all the time" phase. That one is NO FUN.
I'm moving along to the "hungry at the drop of a hat" phase and "nothing in my closet fits me" phase.
I was trying to describe pregnancy hunger to my husband. It's like nothing I've ever experienced before. The closest analogy I have is after a night of drinking and you come across a Perkins or a McDonalds, and that very SECOND you simply MUST have an omelette with hashbrowns or a burger or something with grease and cheese and LOTS of it. That's about the best I can compare it to.
It's more like walking down the street, minding your own business, and WHAM! You walk smack into a brick wall. Only the impact doesn't hurt -- it just makes you light-headed, a little dizzy, somewhat queasy and RAVENOUSLY hungry. You need to eat right then and there or you might very well just pass right out. That is pregnancy hunger at its finest.
Of course, following the pregnancy hunger feeding frenzy comes the "nothing fits in my closet anymore." Luckily for me, I've been through this gig once before and have a small array of pants and tops in various sizes to get me through this transition period before a full-on maternity wardrobe becomes a necessity. The array of clothes, however, is not expansive enough to cover the changing Wisconsin weather (which can switch at the drop of a hat) or my ever-changing moods. I'm not ready to be draped in huge, baggy sweaters -- especially since this weekend the temps were in the 80s and my husband had the AC running! And I really want clothes that are comfortable, stretch-able, breathable and fashionable. Oh, and did I mention, fit really well? Wish me luck with THAT!
The pic today is of the kids and our pumpkins. We took the wimpy way out this year and grabbed our gourds from Festival foods. The pumpkin patch where we typically go must have sold out early. There was not a good selection remaining -- perhaps we waited too long?? It's finally starting to feel like FALL!
